Interracial Relationship: Disregarding Ritual

Participants: Tiler (son), Patrice (girl friend/fiancé), Kelly (Tiler’s mother)
Setting: Home – Patrice and Tiler walk into Mom’s house. She is sitting in the living room.
Mother’s mind set: Racist.
The purpose of conversations: To get the mother’s approval for marriage.
Tone of voice: Attitude.

Initial Draft for This Skit
1. Tiler introduces Patrice as his fiancé to his Mom.
2. Mom gets mad and ask Patrice leave the room, so him and Mom could talk.
3. Mom is mad that he is dating a Black girl.
4. Mom and Tiler talk further.
5. Mom says “Why can’t you date a White girl? Your whole family is White.”

Comment: Tiler most likely will not marry Patrice. He will respect his Mom’s wishes.
